Sixteen Years of Helping Children Build Brighter Futures

Kenyan Kids - supporting children and young people to grow up safe, supported and full of opportunity

How It All Began

When Julie first visited Kenya in March 2010, her intention was simply to help her teenage children understand the realities of life for many families living in poverty.

During that first visit, while attending a community meeting on a rubbish tip and helping distribute bread and tea to those who were hungry and homeless, a small child climbed onto her knee and quietly fell asleep.

The child was dirty, exhausted and soaked in urine. Yet despite everything, she felt completely safe.

From that simple act of trust, there was no turning back.

What began as one visit grew into a commitment to help the children of Kisumu in whatever way possible. Over the years, that commitment has developed into Kenyan Kids – supporting children, young people and families through education, care and practical community support.
